When the cat's away...

Wanna see what happens when Mom's not around & Dad's in charge?

I know, it looks like Barbie (and her horse!) overdosed on Easter chocolates, but that's actually the evidence of over 1/2 dozen candies Kirsten snuck in her room while I was at work!

Breakfast. Apparently, the new marshmallow cereals come with foil-wrapped Nestle chocolates now! Note the fact of only a few marshmallows left. I'm not showing the chocolate wrappers that were on the floor, but see the ones still there - that she was intending to eat? Matt was letting me sleep in a little. I think this was a good learning lesson for him! And yes, we sent Kirsten to school hopped up on sugar! (Of course, she scarfed down a healthy lunch when she got home!)

The oddities of our hearts & minds

I'm weird! Why? Because I miss my daughter tonight, and I didn't expect that I really would! Here's the scoop: I had a SUPER busy day today. Worked 9-2:00. Thankfully, my boss let me leave 15 minutes early. Rush home, fix Kirsten's hair, change, and we ran out the door to get to church. Easter egg hunt there from 2-4:00 (we got there @ 2:30). I won't go into the issues we had there, but maybe another time. Leave there @ 4:00, rush home, grab what I need, and made it to my in-laws by 5:00 (was supposed to be there around 4:30) for dinner (my first food since breakfast... ugh!) & an Easter egg hunt w/the kids. Matt's Mom said she'd take Kirsten overnight, so I left her there (along w/her bag of things I had packed after the church event) and headed back home to wake up Matt @ 8:00 so he could get ready for work. In the morning, Matt & I have to BE at church by 7:30 (ready to work at 7:30!) to set things up & rehearse & such for the 10:00 service. I will say how awesome it is that my in-laws let Kirsten stay with them. Could you imagine how bored that little sweetie would be - sitting at church from 7:30am - some other kids showed up to play with? (it'd be 9:00 at the earliest) So that was the reasoning behind the wonderful help they're giving us... but I miss Kirsten! She'd just be sleeping here, but I think I didn't realize something... I'm used to my little Peanut as my girlfriend buddy at night while Matt's gone to work! I usually don't feel so alone like this... but I am! Huh! I guess I discovered something new about myself!

Happiness in a cup

A little while back, my friend Vickie & I had gone out for a bite to eat. We had some time after dinner to visit more, so we walked to a nearby coffeehouse. Unfortunate for me, it was a Starbucks. Not that I'm anti-coffee by any means, I'm just not a fan of their particular beverages! But Vik loves their taste, and since the point was spending time together, I figured I'd venture out and try something new there. I attempted to get what would be comparable with a Cafe Caramel from Coffee Beanery. There seemed to be a bit of confusion, because it sure didn't taste anywhere near the same to me! So, this led me to a state of craving for the real deal!

A few weeks ago on one of my mornings off, I decided to go to my favorite local Coffee Beanery to indulge myself. And ooooh, it was perfect! They make it with their Breakfast Blend coffee (a mild blend), 2% milk (or something like that - I'm not the mixed coffee drink connoisseurs!), caramel syrup, and whipped cream on top. The key to the ingredient is using coffee, not espresso like other coffee shops use. Aaaaah! Perfection in every sip! I even got a little cup of extra whipped cream w/caramel on the side to add at home... of which I ate most of on the way!

Welcome home, my tasty friend. Welcome home!

Sick and Tired

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired! This is now past the point of comical and on to the point of ridiculous. I had that round of antibiotics that I finished over a week ago. Well, I never fully got better. Then this past Thursday night, a fever decided to hit me. I don't run fevers often, so when it really hit, I knew it. Went up to 102 and lasted until late Saturday morning/early afternoon. I wasted another $10 copay at the doctor's office on Friday, only for them to tell me there's nothing they can do for me. This is just another virus that kicked in after the other one subsided. Lucky me. You know, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Michigan weather? For instance, tomorrow's high is supposed to be 70, followed by a high of only 41 on Wednesday. A 30 degree drop couldn't effect my lack of healing, could it? Grrr! I just wanna get better! Oh, and my eyes are quite pink and cloudy today. Lovely. At least I work for an eye doctor (and I'm going in to work this afternoon, regardless of how I feel!) ... I just hope we have some samples on hand for this infection. (Unless I can use the meds from the one I had 2 weeks ago?) When will this madness end?!?
